About

Colour Quartet

Sara Hughes’ abstracted artworks glow gold, and colourful rays of light radiate through luminous skies and green land, each a statement of optimism, to honour the hopes of generations past for a brighter future.

Sara Hughes says “The Colour Quartet artworks are inspired by what Kāhui St David’s stands for – remembrance, light-filled soaring architecture, and optimism for a musical future.

The quartet is also like the four seasons – each artwork has its own energy.

Music and art are a universal language – they both have the potential to uplift the human spirit. The proceeds from the sale of the artworks will support the completion of this part of the restoration and allow St David’s to open some membership spaces, which will offer shared desks and opportunities for social connection for music and arts-related practitioners. Weddings and funerals can also be held here, with live music.

St David’s are working to support the music ecosystem and that means creating opportunities for sustainable careers for musicians.

We invite you to pre-order your artwork.
