A place of gathering
Nau mai, Haere mai, Afio mai! Welcome to Kāhui St David’s.
Kāhui St David’s is Auckland’s newest centre for music. Through music and the performing arts, we aim to inspire artists and audiences, with programmes we create, and events created by others.
Kāhui St David’s is available for events and functions, including weddings and funerals. All backgrounds and cultures are welcome.
Welcoming, beautiful spaces in the historic heritage St David’s Memorial Church building, located at 70 Khyber Pass Road, Grafton in central Auckland. We will remember them.
Kāhui St David’s is uniquely positioned to serve the performing arts, conferences and gatherings intimate and large-scale. By choosing to hold your event here, you are supporting the arts ecology. Thank you!
The building is owned and run by Friends of St David’s Trust Kāhui Rangi Pūpū, a registered charity.
“Kāhui” means “the gathering” and captures the intention to serve all New Zealanders. It’s here for you.
We invite you to visit, or click below for an event enquiry. Or, sign up to the Newsletter for upcoming events and to stay in touch.

The Art of Remembrance
How does the Trust survive serving music and the performing arts? It’s a challenge!
We survive through huge volunteer hours, donations, creating programmes that patrons support, and space bookings. We have also created the Art of Remembrance project - art available for purchase.

Welcome
A message from the Director, Paul Baragwanath
“Kāhui St David’s is here for you. “Kāhui” means “the gathering”, and that’s what it’s here for. For people to gather here to celebrate, commemorate, create, connect and inspire.
It’s here for special events and memorable experiences, and as a place where everyone feels at home.
What is the building? It was formerly a Presbyterian Church, built as “a living memorial” after World War One. It’s now owned by a charitable trust to see it serve the whole community. It is still a living memorial, which means it continues to honour the memory of those whose lives were taken or affected by war, and their hopes for a better future for others.
The programmes we generate in-house support the performing arts, and are designed to connect, inspire and uplift. A core value of Kāhui St David’s is celebration. When we celebrate together, we feel connected.
For bookings for special events, conferences, weddings, and funerals, we encourage you to engage a musician for your event, to support musical careers.
Whatever your background and interest in Kāhui St David’s, we look forward to hearing from you.”

Anzac at Kāhui St David’s - Centre for Music
We create a series of events through the year for the whole community. That’s you!
The Art of Remembrance Anzac Eve
The annual Art of Remembrance event is held each ANZAC Eve (the night before Anzac Day), to honour the history of the building as a living memorial. A free evening of inspiring music, moving image and warm hospitality in the company of very special guests.
We’ve experienced the magnificent acoustics at past ANZAC events with performances by musicians Horomona Horo (taonga pūoro), David Harvey (bagpipes), Ed Waaka (piano and vocal), Helen Lukman-Fox (pipe organ) and The Off Broadway Band.
Please join our mailing list so that you receive invitations to these and other special events.
